Hello Everyone. I hope you are all enjoying the summer!
"Low Level Drop, RODEO 2009", oil on canvas, 40 x 60
I am really excited to debut in this Newsletter my latest painting for the Air Force Art Collection. Last year I was invited to McChord Air Force Base in Washington for Air Mobility Rodeo 2009, a competition involving more than a hundred teams from Air Forces around the world. The event spanned 5 days. Its goal was, through intense competition, the honing of the skills necessary for successful worldwide air mobility operations.
This painting, "Low-Level Drop," depicts the inside of a C-17 Globemaster III during an event that included a high-altitude drop from 10,000-13,000 feet, a runway drop that includes a three-point star turn, and a low-level drop from 300-400 feet. A crew of three–pilot, copilot and loadmaster–operates this huge aircraft.
Shown is Loadmaster TSgt Richard deLucia releasing the cargo for a low-level drop to a mark on the ground.
I hope you all enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed the experience of being in that plane and creating it.
